Learn more about pressing land issues that affect our immediate area. The Camp Bullis Joint Land Use Study has several informative surveys of the Camp Bullis area and the Golden Cheeked Warbler Habitat.
**Matrix Design Group - Integrated Design Solutions was assigned to help with the Joint Land Use Study. Their original brochure states that "There exists a list of 24 compatibility factors that apply to all Joint Land Use Studies, which are used to characterize local issues. These are divided into three broad categories: man-made, natural resources and competition for scarce resources. This list is used to assist in reviewing plans, programs, or development proposals and related applications."
The Joint Land Use Study's Feb 2009 meeting addressed Seven Encroachment Issues for Camp Bullis. They are: Land Use, Light & Glare, Noise, Vertical Obstruction, Safety, Threatened and Endangered Species and Water. The maps for each topic represent a Military Influence Area (MIA) which is a "formally designated geographic area where military operations may impact local communities, and conversely, where militar's ability to carry out its mission. A MIA is designated to promote an orderly transition between community and military land uses to ensure that they are compatible". A map of each Encroachment Issue shows the MIA Overlay District.
