Solar Bill Gains Ground In Texas

Senate approves solar energy plan

The Senate on Tuesday passed a wide-ranging solar power proposal authored by Sen. Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay.

The proposal calls for creating a fund to help people who want to put solar panels on their roofs and utilities that want money to build big, concentrated solar facilities. The money, to come from a surcharge on electric bills, could amount to as much as $100 million a year for five years.
